Ekh! Ek-ho! Ek-ho!
Entomology baduate student. I draw shit.
Ekh! Ek-ho! Ek-ho!
Like with last year, I didn’t use a prompt list and just drew whatever I felt inspired to, so I wanted to do a breakdown again to see what kinds of things I draw most when pressured.
Bug people

As before, bug people are fun to draw and were my largest cohesive category. Inks 3, 8, 16, 17, 19, 20, 23, 28, 29, 30
(the drawings in all of these collages are not in order btw)
Office hell

Again, a strong theme with me. Its fun to draw creeps in suits. Inks 4, 6, 9, 12, 18, 21, 24
Real arthropods

I really would have liked to draw more of these, but drawing real things requires, like, looking at references and not just making shit up, which is something I didn’t have a lot of energy for this month. Inks 7, 10, 11
Other monsters and shit

Just my usual garbage I guess. When in doubt draw something with lots of teeth. Inks 1, 2, 5, 13, 14, 15, 22, 25, 26, 27, 31
All in all, I think this was definitely not my best inktober. There were only a few inks I’m particularly proud of, and many of these were just half-assed rushed drawings so that I could go to bed. I’m not going to beat myself up over it though; I managed to complete 31 drawings while working grueling field work for half the month, writing my dissertation, and TAing two classes every week. Feels like a win overall.
inktober 31 - i was at a loss for what to draw tonight until @thecreaturecodex dropped by and put on Mr Sardonicus
inktober 30 - @pythosart‘s fae au lou
inktobers 24 & 25
my inktober from yesterday (#20): @bedupolker‘s isopod fellow & their collembolan pet. i wasn’t going to post it because it’s super sloppy even for me but i’m gonna fall behind again if i don’t so uh here it is anyway
